The first meeting of the high-level multi-disciplinary committee set up by the government to look into the Ahmedabad plane crash will be held on Monday here, sources said.

The panel, chaired by the home secretary, is expected to submit its report in three months.

The committee will have its first meeting on Monday afternoon, the sources said.

The committee is expected to focus on "formulating Standard Operating Procedures for preventing such occurrences in the future".

A separate investigation is also being carried out by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), which is looking into the technical aspects of the crash.

Air India plane crash: 45 DNA matches, Vijay Rupani's last rites in Rajkot tomorrow

Gujarat health minister Rushikesh Patel on Sunday said that the DNA of 45 deceased have been matched with their relatives, and confirmed that the death toll in the Ahmedabad plane crash stands at 274.

The London-bound Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, carrying 242 passengers and crew, crashed and rammed into a doctor's hostel shortly after taking off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on June 12.

"Till now, 45 DNA samples have matched. Around 274 people have lost their lives in the heart-wrenching incident," state's Health Minister said.

He also said that the funeral of former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, who was among the victims, will be held tomorrow with full state honours.

Patel stated, "CM Bhupendra Patel informed Vijay Rupani's family about the DNA samples matching as soon as the information was received... Tomorrow, at 11.30 am, the family will receive Vijay Rupani's mortal remains from the Civil Hospital. The mortal remains will be taken to Rajkot by air and reach there at 2. The funeral will be carried out at 5 pm and the last rites will be completed at 6 pm with state honours."

Ahmedabad Air India Plane Crash Live: P K Mishra visits Air India plane crash site

P K Mishra, the Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Sunday inspected the Air India plane crash site in Ahmedabad and also visited the civil hospital where injured persons are undergoing treatment.

State government officers apprised Mishra about the sequence of events culminating into the worst aviation disaster in decades that left 241 of 242 people on board the ill-fated AI Dreamliner dead on Thursday.

After enquiring about the health of the injured persons, Mishra went to the morgue area of the hospital.

"I am very pained by the enormity of the tragedy. Everybody is sad. It is our duty to share grief and express our feelings for the victims," Mishra told reporters.

Ahmedabad plane crash: DNA tests identify 47 victims; 24 bodies handed over to kin

Three days after a London-bound Air India plane crashed in Ahmedabad, authorities here have so far identified 47 victims through DNA testing and bodies of 24 have been handed over to their families, an official said on Sunday.

As many of the bodies were burnt beyond recognition or damaged otherwise, authorities are carrying out DNA tests to establish the identity of victims of the horrific tragedy.

"A total of 47 plane crash victims have been identified so far through DNA matching. Of these, bodies of 24 victims have been handed over to the respective families. These deceased were from Rajasthan and different parts of Gujarat," Additional Civil Superintendent Dr Rajnish Patel told reporters.

All but one of the 242 passengers and crew on board the Boeing 787-8 (AI171) and another 29 persons, including five MBBS students, on the ground were killed in the plane crash on Thursday.

The aircraft crashed into the campus of a medical college in Meghaninagar moments after taking off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at 1:39pm on Thursday.

Air India Express, a subsidiary of Air India, on Sunday confirmed that its flight from Kolkata to Uttar Pradesh's Hindon was delayed on Sunday after the aircraft developed a "snag."

An Air India Express spokesperson told ANI, "Our Kolkata - Hindon flight operated, with a delay, due to a snag on the originally assigned aircraft. Guests were offered complimentary rescheduling or cancellation with a full refund. We regret the inconvenience."

Still to overcome the psychological trauma caused by the tragic Air India plane crash he unwittingly ended up capturing on his mobile phone in Ahmedabad, shaken and disturbed Aryan Asari on Sunday returned to his native village in Aravalli district to focus on his class 12 studies.

The 17-year-old from Shamlaji taluka arrived in Ahmedabad on Thursday — the same day the tragic incident occurred — to purchase textbooks.

"I cleared the class 11 exam last month and secured admission in class 12. I came to Ahmedabad on June 12 to purchase textbooks. I reached my father's rented house at around 12:30 pm," Aryan said, adding that he went to the terrace overwhelmed by the sight of a low-flying aircraft.

Aryan was on the terrace of a rented house in the Meghaninagar area, close to the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, when he witnessed the ill-fated Ahmedabad-London flight crashing into a medical college campus shortly after takeoff.

The disaster claimed 241 of the 242 lives on board, along with several casualties on the ground.

"I had just reached my father’s house around 12:30 p.m. and went up to the terrace after learning that aircraft fly overhead. I was recording a video of a plane flying low out of curiosity because I had never seen one from such a close distance.

"When the plane started descending, I thought it was going to land on the other side of the airport. Then it crashed and burst into flames right in front of my eyes. It was terrifying," he told media persons.

Gujarat home minister Harsh Sanghavi on Sunday said that DNA identification of 22 more victims of the AI 171 plane crash has been completed, raising the total number of identified victims to 42.

Update as of 1.00 pm- From 9 PM last night to 1 PM today, our teams have worked tirelessly to match DNA samples. We are pleased to report that an additional 22 DNA samples have been matched, bringing the total to 42 matched DNA samples so far," Sanghavi shared on X.
